RE: Just want to verify for storage

sound like you do alright now sure what temps you see their but you might want to pull the batteries and store them in the garage and cover the windows with newspaper to help stop sun fade and also cover the tires to stop the sun from rotting them

RE: propane tanks freezing up

are you sure it is propane that is in the tanks and not butane because propane should not freeze until around 20 below zero but butane freezes at around 10 above either that or the last place that you got your tanks filled had water in there lines you might try wrapping the tanks with fiberglass insulation than place your covers over them.

RE: what type of copper tubing for lp lines on rebuild?

why not just run 1/2 inch black pipe under the trailer and tee it off to where you need to go then use short runs of the copper tubing less money for the copper and better protection under the trailer that is how my fifth wheel is plumbed for the lp gas they used the 3/8 K soft copper tubing with flare fittings to make the hook-ups to the stove, fridge and the water heater

RE: Lowering Dexter Axle on Jayco 5er

i just did this same thing this summer and i had the same problem you are having the way i did it was i got the bolt started into the inside hole then put the nut on it and used a hammer and a brass punch and hammered the bolt through the inside jakplate. trying to pull it through with the nut won't work because you are trying to cut new grooves with the bolt.I gained about 2 inches by doing this and yes you have to move the center bolt along with both spring eye bolts

RE: Winterizing question

I have never understood why you need to run the gen set once a month i have never started mine in the ten years i have owned it and it has run just fine. Another thing do you think that when all the gen sets are in the warehouse that someone goes around once a month and starts them all i don't think so.

There is a company out of loveland Co. that will come right to your site and take measurement for skirting the web site is www.rvskirting.com phone number is 1-970-290-6817. As i am in the same boat you are in my wife and youngest son are moving to a differant town and going to live in the 5th wheel for awhile he is going to school and she will be working for a year and a half then move back home when he is out of school so what every we find out about winter camping will benefit both of us.

RE: Check Propane Level?

My propane dealer told me an easy way to see how much is left in the tank is to take a cup of hot water and pour it down the side of the tank the level in the tank will show as frost.

RE: Plumbing Question

You can get what is called flair-it fittings from home depot they make fitting to go from poly to pex and from copper to pex also home depot carries pex in red blue or clear just slightly heat the pex pipe with a heat gun or hair dryer and then slide the fitting into the pex pipe and tighten the nut and your done.

RE: Duramax Oil usage

cheap insurance to change it what 40 dollars max vs 10000 for a new motor the oil change interval that is listed in the book is just a guide line to follow nothing says you can't change it more offen when i had my dmax i changed it every 2500 to 3000 miles just the way i have been doing it since i started driving

RE: WalMart Picture Posting Thread

I am wondering if maybe the fifth wheel that is parked out of the way with the truck diconnected just might be a person working in that sam's club and has permission to park there. Did anybody ever go ask probally not they just like to b**ch about something that they can't do it is like a bunch of kids where one got the last cookie and the others got nothing get a life and don't worry about the wal-mart/sams club campers. Unless they are dumping there black tank on the parking lot then call the police but until that happens leave them alone or it might be that the wife or husband could have gotten sick and ended up in the hospital in that small town. And the person went and asked if it would be alright to park there until said person has recovered enough to travel.

RE: hooking up a fifth wheel

Ok this is a stupid question perhaps. The type of trailors that would fit the description of what the wife and I want (Keystone Fuzion) are considered to be 5th wheel....reading these posts I see that refers to the type of hitch being used....is there any way to convert a 5th wheel trailor to a gooseneck style hitch??????? I keep seeing trucks all over the place that claim to have a 5th wheel hook up but all I see is a ball sticking out of the center of the bed..nothing like those reece you guys are talking about here hitches. It aLSO SEEMS THIS GOOSeNECK SYSTEM IS far easier to deal with from the sounds of it. Yes there is a way to convert the fifth wheel to a goose neck you can buy an adapter that attaches to the pin on the trailer but i would check with the trailer manufactor to see if they allow it some do and some don't because it put a lot of stress on the frame where the pin box is located

RE: hooking up a fifth wheel

also i agree with several of the other posts but one thing i did on my B&W hitch was to paint the jaws a bright orange color so it makes it a lot easier to see that the jaws have closed around the pin

RE: Battery charging question

yes pull the dummy fuse out of slot#1 and install a 40 amp fuse and you will have power to the plug for charging the batteries on the trailer
